Interest Groups

Some interest groups are American association for affirmative action and Americans united for affirmative action. They are just couple of groups that support affirmative action. They do campaigns and I guess get together to support people along the lines with affirmative action whether it being discriminated or reverse discriminated.

Elected Affirmative Action Official

So I think one of the most beneficial persons in America would have to be Brack Obama. If we had never taken affirmative action into consideration then we probably would've never even heard of his name. He had got into Harvard and earned a place on journal his freshman year. In that year it gave him an insight to a role that has come to define his pitch for presidency today. He had approached the conservatives, he had explained that while he supported affirmative action as a policy matter he reconized that it came with a cost. Charnes praises Obama as "a straight-up guy who always told you exactly what he thought." The conservatives saw Obama as a moderate and threw their support behind him. Obama became the new Law Review president.

They both would've destroyed this country one way or another at least we took affirmative action and put it to use.

Taking Affirmative Action Internationaly

Despite the differences between America and India, we both have very much in common such as our democracies. Ours being the oldest and India's being the largest. but like so many situations in democracy nothing is perfect. time spent in India is spent on promoting equality and pluralism. Diversity in india revolves around caste issues, which then in turn turns into questions of religion, ethnicity and economic class. obvious situations are connected to the U.S. made by Indian officials. Now that the government has stepped in to help people now can get jobs and have an education. I think its awesome that both government's are trying to get involved and help out the ones in need but sometimes in turn it holds back the ones who are in the higher class's.

lawz n billz of Affirmative Action

Affirmative Action- The process of a business or government agency in which it gives special rights of hiring or advancement to ethnic minorities to make up for past discrimination to that minority. In the main debate it suggests that it reverse discriminates against Caucasian's, I think so to cause I can't get a job anywhere that hires Mexican's. The fourteenth amendment guarantees equal protection under that law; the fifteenth amendment forbids racial discrimination in access to voting. 1866, Civil Rights Act, guarantees every citizen the same right to make and enforce contracts as is enjoyed by white citizens. JFK's 1961 executive order 10925, requires federal contractors to " take affirmative to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin." It was later used the same in Lyndon Johnson's 1965 executive order 11246. It's now 2009 and people still discriminate and reverse discriminate based on race, color, and national origin.

Affirmative Action looking at individual rights

Affirmative action programs are kept in tact by a multiple sets of laws and titles such as the 14th Amendment in the constitution prohibits discrimination based on race or sex. Another example is Title 6 of the Civil Rights act of 1964 prohibits any discrimination receiving government funds. Mainly I don't see how people can be discriminating cause of the color of your skin it's just weird.
